Gareth Southgate

Berlin (Germany), 14/07/2024.- (FILE) - England head coach Gareth Southgate walks past the trophy during the podium ceremony after England lost the UEFA EURO 2024 final soccer match between Spain and England, in Berlin, Germany, 14 July 2024 (reissued 16 July 2024). Southgate, 53, resigned on 16 July 2024, two days after England'Äôs defeat to Spain in the Euro 2024 final in Berlin. It was the second consecutive defeat in the European Championship final after losing against Italy in 2021. "As a proud Englishman, it has been the honor of my life to play for England and to manage England," he said in a statement released on 16 July. Southgate, who also represented England as a player, was in charge of the national team for 102 games over eight years. His contract was due to expire in December 2024.
